The office memorandum issued by the general administration department on Friday said that the guidelines issued on April 21 have been extended till May 15 or until further order, whichever is earlier.

Earlier, guidelines were in force till April 30.

As per the order issued on April 21, the government had asked all heads of the departments to prepare the duty roaster to ensure that the employees are called to office on alternate basis.

It said that the head of the departments should ensure that up to 50 per cent of the employees shall attend office on a particular day and remaining shall work from home, on alternate day basis.

It also suggested that the working hours for all the employees who attend the office on a particular day should also be staggered between 9 am to 4 am, 9.30 am to 5 am and 10 am to 5.30 am.

The departments have been told not to convene meetings unless it is essential and avoid asking field functionaries to come to the head office as a routine.

It also states that the visitors should be avoided and efforts should be made to work though video conferencing instead of regular meetings.

The police, home guards, civil defence, fire and emergency services, disaster management, prison, treasury, district administration, forest and municipal services will function without restrictions.

The delivery of public services shall be ensured and necessary staff will be deployed for such purpose, the order
adds.
