Four COVID patients booked for violating guidelines

Ponda: After complaints by health officials and mamlatdar, Ponda police on Tuesday booked four Nagzar-Curti residents for allegedly violating COVID-19 guidelines and negligence. As per police, the four persons, who are ‘untraceable’, are believed to be allegedly attending their duties despite testing positive for COVID-19.

Police disclosed their names as Bechan Kumar Yadav, Nagendra Kumar Yadav, Sanjay Kumar and Deepak Kumar, who had tested positive for COVID-19 on April 23 and were advised to get admitted in a COVID care facility at Fatorda.

Taking note of it, health officer wrote to the Deputy Collector of Ponda and based on it, mamlatdar and executive magistrate have filed a complaint with Ponda police against the four persons.

In its complaint letter, the mamlatdar has stated that all four COVID-19 patients are hiding themselves from the health officials and there is a possibility that these patients are visiting their workplaces regularly.

In such a situation, there is a high chance of these patients spreading the virus to others, it was noted.

Ponda police have registered an offense against the four under relevant sections. Search for the four persons was on, informed the investigating officer.
