Over 300 cases ‘pending’ before GSCDRC, district consumer forums

Goa State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (GSCDRC),  North Goa District Consumer Forum and South Goa District Consumer Forum in the state have over 300 consumer dispute cases  pending before them.

This information was provided by the department for civil supplies and consumer affairs during the ongoing assembly session.

In response to a question posed by Panaji MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate, Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Govind Gaude gave details of pending cases as well as cases that have been resolved at the Goa State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and the district forums.

He said that the number of complaints and pending cases as on February 28 were 182 cases at the Goa State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, 102 cases at the north district forum and 92 cases at the south district forum.

As for the number of complaints that have been resolved since 2015, the Minister informed that the Goa State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission resolved 155 cases in 2015, 76 cases in 2016, 158 cases in 2017, 125 cases in 2018, 163 cases in 2019 and 32 cases in 2020. The north district forum resolved 76 cases in 2015, 107 cases in 2016, 294 cases in 2017, 90 cases in 2018, 92 cases in 2019 and 49 cases in 2020 while the south district forum resolved 107 cases in 2015, 94 cases in 2016, 141 cases in 2017, 90 cases in 2018, 104 cases in 2019 and 31 cases in 2020.
