Cuncolim civic body new chief, deputy to be elected tomorrow

Elections to the post of chairperson and deputy chairperson at the Cuncolim Municipal Council (CMC) are expected to be held on Thursday. The nominations for the posts will be open
on Wednesday. 

Earlier last week, following the elections to the municipality, the Congress’ Yuri Alemao backed panel had emerged victorious winning nine of the 14 seats. Following the victory, it was announced that Laximan Naik would be the chairperson and Anthony Vaz the deputy
chairperson. 

The filing of nominations for both the posts will be held on Wednesday and the election to the post will be held on Thursday at the CMC’s office.
Among the newly elected councillors are Gauri Shetkar in ward 1, Raimundo D’Souza in ward 2, Jamira Pires in ward 3, Rupa Gaonkar in ward 4, Laximan Naik in ward 5, John Dias in ward
6, Cecilia Fernandes in ward 7, Polita Carneiro in ward 8, Uddesh Naik Dessai in ward 9, Rahul Dessai in ward 10, Vishal Dessai in ward 11, Landry Mascarenhas in ward 12, Anthony Vaz in ward 13 and Virendra Dessai
in ward 14.
