Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), while taking note of the upsurge in number of COVID-19 cases in the state, has questioned the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s attempt to control it and whether his reaction is befitting a person who belongs to the medical profession.

Goa convenor of AAP Rahul Mhambre asked why there are no restrictions at all on public gatherings at night clubs, casinos, trade fairs while welcoming the restrictions on gatherings for religious programmes like Holi, Eid and Easter.

“It is not understood why there are restrictions on religious programmes but no restrictions at all for commercial ventures,” he said while wondering whether the organisers of the commercial programmes have also filled up the pockets of the administration.

Rahul also demanded that all people visiting the state from any place in the world should be asked to produce a certificate stating that they are negative for COVID as is done by some other places.

He also mocked at the imposition of Section 144 of CrPC as it is being treated as a joke. Gatherings of more than four people can be seen at every city corner and  market place and in such a situation  how can there be imposition of Section 144 ,’’ he asked besides pointing out that in many villages on Sunday there were gram sabhas held in total violation of Section 144.
