18-yr-old boy held for kidnapping minor girl

Vasco police, on Wednesday, informed that they have arrested an 18-year-old boy in Delhi for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl from Vasco.

The police said that the girl was rescued from Delhi while the accused, who was detained in Delhi, has been arrested and lodged in a police custody.

The police rescued the 13-year-old Vasco-based girl from a hostile location in Delhi. Police sources said that the girl along with the 18-year-old boy had left from Margao, and had boarded Mangala Express on  March 28 to Delhi.

“Though attempts were made to check the train at Ratnagiri, both managed to give the authorities a slip. However, after reaching Delhi, the girl called her friend to inform that she had reached safely, while the boy called his friend for financial help,” the sources added.

Acting on the information, a police team immediately swung into action and left for Delhi by an early Wednesday morning flight and rescued the girl in Delhi, the sources said.

The police team brought both to Vasco police station. The 18-year-old boy, identified as Manoj Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh  has been arrested, informed the police.

Offence under Section 363 of the IPC for kidnapping has been registered against the alleged accused, said the police.

PSI Diago Gracias is investigating the  case under the supervision of PI Nilesh  Rane.
