Six opposition MLAs ask South Goa Collector to stop land acquisition for Double tracking; warn of legal action
Digital Goa, Feb 25 – Six opposition MLAs including Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat have written to the Collector, South Goa to cancel the land acquisition process underway for the Hospet-Hubli-Londa-Vasco-Da-Gama railway doubling project, pointing out that the acquisition of land for the project under Railway Act is incorrect and illegal. The MLAs have warned of legal action against concerned organisations and persons for violation of the rules and regulations of govt of India and the Ministry of Railways, if the acquisition process is not stopped. The letter also seeks cancellation of the personal hearings scheduled for today as immediate measure. Along with Kamat, Congress MLA Aleixo Lourenco, NCP MLA Churchill Alemao, Independent MLA Prasad Gaonkar, Goa Forward MLAs Vija Sardesai and Jayesh Salgaonkar have signed the letter. The MLAs along with large number of people are protesting outside the Dy Collector office in Mormugao against the land acquisition
