Court moved seeking village level public hearings on Draft CZMP

Digital Goa, Feb 24 – A PIL writ petition has been filed in the High Court seeking directions from the court to the government to hold public hearing on the draft Coastal Zone Management Plan(CZMP) at village panchayat level. The state government has scheduled the public hearing at two venues on March 7 – at Taleigao Community Hall in North Goa and Margao Ravindra Bhavan in South Goa. “Let the govt explain these new plans to the people in the gramsabhas and then hold public hearings at village levels, that is our demand,” said petitioner Abjijeet Prabhudesai.
“Houses which have not been marked in the plan will be marked for demolition. Rivers and Khazan lands have been marked as Port limits. Fishing rights, mussels ,oysters, fish farms etc have not been marked. All these discrepancies have to be corrected,” said Prabhudesai.
