Rs 439 crore spent by govt on creating infrastructure for National games

Digital Goa, Jan 29 – The state Government has spent an amount of Rs 439 crores on creation of infrastructure for National Games, as of date stated Dy CM and Sports Minister Babu Azgaonkar in a written reply to the state legislative assembly.
Center has sanctioned Rs 69.85 crore funds towards the creation of infrastructure for the National Games, in addition to Rs 97.80 crore already sanctioned and released, he added. Given the Covid-19 pandemic, the hosting of the National Games had to be postponed and the State Government shall be holding a consultative exercise with stakeholders to decide a suitable period for hosting of the National Games, the reply further adds. The Games were originally scheduled to be held in Goa in November 2016. They were later scheduled for October 20,2020 and further postponed due to Pandemic.
