Digital Goa, Jan 29 – Goa government today extended the One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) for water supply bill payment by one more month , till Feb 28,2021. Govt is expecting recovery to the tune of Rs 70 crore through the scheme, informed PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar. The OTS scheme was announced on Dec 31 and was due for expiry on Jan 31. Under the scheme, Delay Payment Charges(DPC) are waived off fully or partly for defaulting consumers based on the number of installments chosen by them. Since the announcement of the scheme, Rs 40 lakh have been recovered from 70 consumers, Pauskar added. The water supply department caters to nearly 3.7 lakh consumers across Goa.
Pauskar also informed that by 2024 state is expected to receive funds to the tune of Rs 1,500 crore under Jal Jeevan mission for water supply enhancement, treatment plants etc . “Rs 70 crore have already been sanctioned and we have sent DPR of 20 crore,” he added.
