Bicholim factory retrenchment row – employees demand justice, company claims they followed all guidelines

Digital Goa, Oct 26 – Around 142 workers from Venus Ethoxyethers Pvt. Ltd a chemical factory at Bicholim Industrial Estate have been retrenched while another 93 workers have been issued transfer orders by the company. Workers have alleged that the company has retrenched them without prior intimation, without following govt laid guidelines and have demanded justice in the matter. Meanwhile, Venus Ethoxyethers has issued a clarification that the closure of the plant is in compliance with guidelines as prescribed under Industrial Disputes (Goa Amendment) Act 2020. The company also claimed that they have paid all the legal dues to the retrenched employees.
