Digital Goa, May 29 : No new confirmed Covid-19 cases were reported in Goa today, while 3 more people were declared cured of the infection, further reducing the active Covid cases count to 28. Of the 1,359 samples tested today, 984 have tested negative while 471 results are awaited. 335 people are presently placed under facility quarantine and 6 patients are presently under hospital isolation is Goa. DHS has started sending test results by SMS to people whose swab samples are collected for testing on arrival into the state, informed Health Secretary Neela Mohanan. “The results are being made available within 24 hours,” she said.
When queried over the chaos at Asilo Hospital , Mapusa swab collection facility yesterday, Health Secretary informed that 571 people came by road via Patradevi Check Post yesterday. Of these nearly 150 came after 5pm leading to large queues and extended waiting time. She added that many people were taken to Hospicio and Ponda Hospitals for testing to reduce the load at the Mapusa swab collection center, which has a staff strength of 40. Very few people who enter the state bring along a Covid Negative certificate informed Mohanan.
