Digital Goa, May 28: National Games 2020 are likely to be postponed yet again with Goa government expressing its inability to conduct the games as per earlier announced schedule due to Covid scare. Speaking to media after conducting a review meeting on the conduct of National Games, CM Pramod Sawant said that the infrastructure for conducting the prestigious games is almost ready in the state, however Goa has requested the sports ministry to postpone the game dates in consultation with Indian Olympic Association(IOA) in view of the Covid crisis.
Pointing out that majority of the players will be coming from states like Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Delhi which are badly struck by the Corona virus, Sport Minister Babu Azgaonkar said that it will not be possible to conduct the games in October. “We will abide by what center says, but National games are not possible as per earlier announced schedule,” he asserted.
The much delayed National Games of India were scheduled to be held from October 20 to Nov 4.
