PUC implementation deferred by one month, relaxation to parents taking children to school

Digital Goa, Apr 4 – Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho has asked the authorities to defer Pollution Under Control(PUC) certificate implementation by one month and give relaxation for parents carrying children to school on two wheelers as regards total number of passengers. Speaking to media after holding joint meeting with RTO and traffic police, Godinho said that he has asked the officials to be practical and humane for implementing the amended Motor Vehicle Act. He further said that his govt will write to the center requesting them to extend the validity of PCU certificate from 6 months to one year. “There are not enough PUC centers in the state to cope up with the increased demand. There has been rush for obtaining PUC certificates for the past few days in the state because the fine for not having valid PUC certificate is whooping Rs 10,000. Mauvin further said high resolution cameras will be soon introduced in the state to do away with manual issuance of challans for traffic violations and rule out corruption.
