Parra: Parra sarpanch Delilah Lobo on Sunday brought to the notice of the gram sabha that the panchayat has provided two bins each to the villagers, who have paid the house tax, for separate collection of dry and wet waste, however said that there were still many who were yet to pay the tax and, hence a lot of waste bins were left with the panchayat.
The sarpanch however informed that the panchayat is facing funds constraints for the job of door-to-door collection of garbage and therefore, half of the funds is being utilised from the 14th finance commission.
She also informed that the panchayat had installed CCTV cameras at all junctions in the village so that illegal activities, accidents, robberies can easily be detected.
Meanwhile, Claude Alvares raised the issue of outline development plan (ODP), demanding that it should be scrapped and sought a special gram sabha to discuss the matter.
The sarpanch told the gram sabha that the matter is in the court and, hence sub judice. Josephine D’Cruz, deputy sarpanch, informed that toilet provision is being made for the crematorium in the village, that all nullahs in her ward have been de-silted and roads will be hot-mix carpeted soon, while footpaths are being constructed.
Lobo said that the panchayat will be carrying out beautification of all the Ganesh immersion sites in the panchayat jurisdiction but added that nullah-related works were pending due to WRD facing paucity of funds.
She urged the villagers to get their names corrected or registered in the electoral roll in view of the upcoming assembly elections.
