Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar on Tuesday accused a state minister of “sexually exploiting” a woman.
Chodankar, however, refused to name the minister.
Addressing a press conference in Panaji, the GPCC president said video clips were shown to him on a mobile phone by a responsible citizen, in which the particular minister was allegedly seen in a “compromising position” with the victim.
He claimed the person was also in possession of text messages and audio tapes purportedly of the minister and the victim.
“In the audio, the woman is clearly heard speaking about her repeated sexual exploitation. The Minister threatened her, saying he could get away with anything. He is also heard forcing the woman to undergo an abortion,” he said.
He claimed the Chief Minister was aware of the misdeeds of his cabinet colleague but didn’t take any action.
The GPCC chief alleged that the Chief Minister was trying to destroy electronic evidence, such as videos, audio and chats.
“Why is the Chief Minister supporting something like this? The minister should have been asked to resign and if he didn’t, he should have been sacked,” he said.
“If the Chief Minister fails to initiate action against the minister in 15 days, then the Congress will expose him publicly,” said Chodankar adding the party will take every precaution to protect the identity of the woman.
