ABVP Konkan state conference to discuss reforms in educational sector

Panaji: The 56th Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Konkan State Conference, to be held at Vidya Prabodhini College, Porvorim from December 3 to December 5 will discuss a number of reforms in the educational sector, including allowing the students to carry his or her academic credits while shifting from one course to another, and faculty regimentation, which will allowing students to have basic knowledge.

The conference will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the guest of honour at the inaugural ceremony will be Dr Smita Kolhe, a senior social activist.

The national general secretary of ABVP, Nidhi Tripathi will also be present.

Dr Bhushan Bhave, while addressing a press conference in the city on Monday said the focus of the conference will be National Education Policy 2020, and a number of educational resolutions would be passed at the three-day conference.

“A number of educational and social proposals would be discussed at the conference,” he added, pointing out, “The event will also have an exhibition titles ‘Goa 60’, which will provide an insight into the 60 years of the state’s Liberation from the colonial rule.”

Speaking further, Dr Bhave said Shefali Vaidya, a historian will speak about the Goa freedom struggle, while Ashish Chauhan, national organising secretary of ABVP will deliver a talk on the topic, ‘Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow’.

It was informed that altogether 500 ABVP member students handpicked from the Konkan district, spread from Palghar in Maharashtra to South Goa, would be attending the conference. In all, 200 ABVP member students from Goa – 100 student delegates and 100 student volunteers – will also be attending the event.

Dr Bhave also said there are many local educational issues, such as absence of any course about fisheries, in spite of the fact that Goa is a coastal state.

The patron of the conference, Arjun Chowgule, speaking on the occasion said the impact of the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 will be deliberated upon, during this conference.

The annual state conference of the ABVP acts as a platform for the students.
