Panaji: Tiswadi sub divisional magistrate on Tuesday constituted a special team of police personnel and the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) to conduct daily checks at the CCP market so as to strictly enforce COVID-19 appropriate behaviour.
The team has been formed as per a decision taken at a meeting chaired by the sub divisional magistrate (SDM).
Deputy Collector Gurunath Desai chaired a meet of representatives of city market vendors, police and CCP at the SDM office in Panaji. He directed the police officers and CCP representatives to enforce the use of face mask by all shopkeepers and the general public. He also asked them to ensure that the standard operating procedures are followed strictly in order to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
Traders have also been directed to strictly observe COVID appropriate behaviour and follow the social distancing norms while carrying out business.
The special team has been directed to start penalising vendors and members of the public visiting the market if they do not wear a face mask appropriately and violate the social distancing norm. However, there is no restriction on the number of people visiting the market.
