Due to the delay in getting COVID test reports from the testing centres of the health services, many symptomatic persons were found running helter-skelter to get themselves checked and undergo medication at the earliest.
Many of these symptomatic people visited private doctors, who learnt to have checked them, but later suggested them to either go to the health centres or at the South Goa District Hospital for checkup, and CT scan.
The RT-PCR test report for COVID-19 is delayed for three days and above in many cases.
Though this could be because of increased number of tests being carried out, and subsequent workload on the
staff on duty, COVID symptomatic people, isolating themselves at their homes worry a lot despite being told to immediately start medication by the government without waiting for test report.
“I am waiting for RT-PCR test report since Monday. Today is Thursday. I lost taste, there is a high fever since Monday. I took dolo tablets, but the fever is not subsiding. My family members — my wife, and son are also having fever. I went to South Goa District Hospital, but none attended to me. I am
told to come once the test reports are received,” informed a person having all COVID symptoms.
On Thursday, too, there was a heavy rush for carrying out COVID test and also at the casualty ward for checkup.
People were seen waiting for getting themselves checked for COVID since many of them are symptomatic, and want to take medicines early.
“We are also exhausted. People rush here 24×7. COVID-19 pressure is mounting on us each day, while the workforce is the same. We do our best to save all who rush here. We also require infrastructure,” a doctor from the hospital said.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured to provide all the COVID test reports within 24 hours, however, sadly, poor people are yet to get the assured service.
On the other hand, the private hospitals that are given permission to conduct RT-PCR test provide the same report within 24 hours, which help many COVID positive people to take early medication.
