Leader of Oppn slams CM over Sankhali event

Margao: The Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, on Wednesday, criticised the Chief Minister for failing to walk the talk on COVID-19 situation in the state which, he said, was evident from the fact that Sawant walked with hordes of people after inaugurating a bridge in his home constituency of Sankhali allegedly without maintaining social distancing.

He demanded that authorities must book all those who violated the section 144 which is in force in the state.

“It is shocking to see hundreds of people walking on the bridge along with the Chief Minister throwing the social distancing norm into the wind,” Kamat pointed out, issuing a press note and attaching photographs of how people were seen walking with the Chief Minister allegedly without maintaining social distancing amid the situation of spiking COVID cases.

While further raising concern over oxygen facilities for COVID patients in the state, Kamat said the BJP was still in the mood of gala inaugurations and celebrations.

“People want an action plan from the government on handling and management of COVID pandemic. BJP has miserably failed to minimise the hardships faced by those affected by COVID-19,” he said.
