Govt machinery gears up to implement SOPs on fishing jetties as official fishing season commences from Aug 1

Digital Goa, July 29 : The annual 45-day fishing ban on western coast of India will end on July 31 and the fishing season will officially start from August 1. However, mechanised fishing may get delayed this year due to scarcity of labourers. This industry is dependent on large labour force that comes from outside. This year due to Covid restrictions there is very minimal labour force available affecting the fishing industry. The government has decided to strictly implement SOP for Covid at the jetties with the help of police. Fisheries Minister today met CM Sawant and sought help from home department. It is also decided that every trader in this industry will be asked to register says Minister Filip neri Rodrigues.
