The Cuncolim Municipal Council (CMC) in a recent notice has made it mandatory for anyone wanting to put up a banner in its jurisdiction to apply for permission.
In a press note issued, CMC chief officer Joao Fernandes said, “Public is hereby informed not to put up any sort of banner in the jurisdiction of the Cuncolim Municipal Council area without obtaining municipality’s written permission and paying necessary fees for the banner. All such banners not permitted by the council shall be removed forthwith.”
It further added that the contents of the banner should also include the municipality issued permission number and date to be displayed on it and for further information to contact the municipality officer.
In the past, the village of Carmona also decided to clamp down on the display of banners without local authority permissions. It has recently also issued fines to political parties that had displayed banners without panchayat permission.
