In two separate cases of unnatural deaths reported in the Ponda police station jurisdiction, two persons ended their lives on Wednesday.

One incident was reported at the basement of Ponda Market Complex.  A 21-year-old fish cutter from Panditwada was found hanging, while in the second incident reported at Shirshirem, Borim a 54-year-old resident ended his life by jumping in a well.

The deceased fish cutter was identified as Jyotiba Kelkar, a native of Karnataka, while Borim deceased was identified as Anand Gaude.

According to the Ponda police, they got a call at around 4.20 pm on Wednesday informing them about a person found hanging at the basement of the market complex.

The deceased was identified as a fish cutter, working at a nearby fish market, the police said adding that he was a little disturbed recently, which could be the reason behind the drastic step taken by him.

Panchanama of the spot was conducted and the body was sent for autopsy.

The deceased is survived by parents and one sibling, the police said.

Shirshirem-Borim resident Anand Gaude was missing since Tuesday, and was found dead in the well.

The police said Anand was terminally ill, and was under a lot of stress, and that could be the reason for he ending his life. No foul play is suspected in the case, the police said. Police are further investigating the case.
