The expert committee of doctors is likely to suggest to the state government to consider putting in place “norms” prior to reopening of schools for classes 9-12 in ‘hybrid’ mode.
According to officials, the doctors’ panel will urge the government to ensure that those school staffers having co-morbidities are allowed in the school premises only if they have received both the doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccine, at least two weeks prior to reopening of schools.
The panel will suggest that those staffers who have not taken the doses of the vaccine due to compelling reasons should be asked to produce COVID negative certificate from the Indian Council of Medical
Research (ICMR) or government-recognised laboratories every week from the commencement of the schools.
The expert committee will recommend to the government that school managements should take precautions to ensure that gatherings of pupils are mandatorily avoided and also see to it that cleanliness is maintained and frequent sanitisation of the school premises is undertaken.
The committee has opined that pupils, who are having co-morbidities should take opinion of doctors before attending the offline classes whereas those showing mild or moderate symptoms of COVID-19 should be barred from attending the sessions in physical mode.
