Panaji: To further elevate the state government’s ST elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI or heart attack) care programme, the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) has launched the 2D echocardiogram initiative, informed Health Minister Vishwajit Rane’s office.
This 2D echocardiogram will enable medical professionals quickly identify cardiac abnormalities at scale and make diagnosis accessible to the general public.
“The aim is to diagnose patients in medical establishments for cardiac abnormalities, and provide a comprehensive diagnosis with appropriate treatment plans and care pathways through early prediction and detection of cardiac ailments, thus saving lives,” reads the statement issued by Rane.
Tricog Health, a Bangalore-based HealthTech company, has been roped in by the government to provide the advanced InstaEcho solution.
“Patients are diagnosed with 2D Echo using a cloud-connected point of care echocardiogram machine. The Echo data is uploaded to the cloud, where cardiac experts use advanced artificial intelligence algorithms to arrive at a timely diagnosis. In the next step, patients with cardiac abnormalities are provided with appropriate treatment plans along with care pathways through early prediction and detection of cardiac ailments,” Rane explained.
He claimed that this initiative will help decrease cardiac mortality and morbidity through early detection of cardiac abnormalities using the InstaEcho solution.
The 2D Echocardiogram initiative was launched at the hands of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, in the presence Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Cortalim Alina Saldana and Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza at Cansaulim.
