The District and Sessions court, Panaji on Wednesday rejected the bail application of Pradeep Kumar (32) who was arrested along with 11 other accused persons in connection with the alleged racket involved in extorting money from gullible overseas job seekers and kidnapping a man from Punjab, also an oversees job seeker.
The police are on the lookout for three more alleged accused – Sanjay Kumar, Teja Singh and Khan Sahab.
The case was registered at the Porvorim police station and later transferred to the Crime Branch police, Ribandar.
The other similar case registered at the Vasco police station was also transferred to the crime branch.
Police had also filed charge-sheet in connection with the cases.
Meanwhile police have obtained permission from the concerned courts in the North Goa and the South Goa to carry out further investigation in the case.
The police had filed charge-sheet against Alex D’Souza (29), Robinson D’Souza (23) both from Pernem, Ashish Tripati (30) from Uttar Pradesh, and Rajat Kalyan (22), Saahil Kalyan (23), Pradeep Kumar (32), Sanju Singh (28), Vijay Gogayan (27), Anil Kumar (35), Anurag Kumar (19), Vishal Goswami (21), Sushil Singh alias Rishab (31) all from Haryana.
In February this year, 12 accused were arrested by the Vasco police in connection with the alleged racket involved in extorting money from gullible overseas job seekers and kidnapping an Afghan national. In a joint operation conducted by the teams from ATS, Crime Branch, Pernem and Vasco police the 12 accused were arrested while 1 minor was apprehended.
The accused were operating from a bungalow in Porvorim, the police had said.
The police during the raid had rescued two persons, one Afghan national and another from Punjab.
The police were probing the kidnapping case of Afghan national registered at the Vasco police station.
After the rescue, a second case of kidnapping was registered at the Porvorim police station.
