7 Shiroda residents booked for assault over property dispute

In a fight between two families over a property dispute, Ponda police on Sunday booked seven persons from Panchwadi-Shiroda for assault based on a complaint lodged by members from the two families. Six people from one family are booked while the seventh accused is from the other family, police said. Agostinho Costa, Paulo Gonsalves, Conceissao Costa, Roza Costa, Savio Costa and Riza Costa are from one family who were booked while the accused from other family is one Cipriano Costa.

As per information, the incident occurred at around 6 pm when both families started arguing with each other over property issue, which turned into a scuffle and assault.

As per the complaint lodged by elderly woman Melinda Pereira, the accused persons Agostinho Costa, Paulo Gonsalves, Conceissao Costa, Roza Costa, Savio Costa and Riza Costa all residents of Comprant-Muxer Panchawadi-Shiroda allegedly formed an unlawful assembly and criminally trespassed into her property. Then they abused her in filthy words and then assaulted her son Cipriano Costa and her daughter Conception Costa with wooden danda and sticks on their heads and legs, causing them injuries. Police have registered an offence on the above mentioned accused under sections 143, 147, 447, 504, 323 read with Section 149 of IPC.

Filing counter-complaint, Agostinho Costa has stated that accused person Cipriano Costa assaulted him and his sister with a wooden strip causing injuries. Based on the counter-complaint, police have registered an offence against the accused person under sections 324 and 506 (ii) of IPC. Further investigation is in progress.
